We just returned from a week at the Papakea Resort on Maui.
What a great week it was!! Papakea is a beautiful resort and we
didn't want to leave. Our one-bedroom condo facing the
beautifully landscaped gardens and the ocean was the perfect
escape, providing us with a wonderful, relaxing retreat after
our one-week cruise around the islands. Our unit was quiet, very
clean, and well supplied with all one needs for daily living.
The beach and all kinds of activities are available; however, we
spent much of our time on the lanai enjoying the view and the
sound of waves against the shore. A convenience store is just a
few steps away.
reservation and check-in procedures went smoothly and all staff
were extremely friendly and helpful. Rick Rose was wonderful and
we will definitely rent from him again. He went out of his way
to get us this last-minute rental. All staff on site also can be
credited with making our stay comfortable and memorable. We

home! Home in paradise!! The gorgeous swaying palm trees and
Hawaiian birds chirping are right outside your patio, this

clean and charming. We loved the big kitchen, where we were able
to bring in food from the local grocery store.

The final phase
of a four year exterior renovation project approved by the Papakea
Association of Apartment Owners (AOAO) will take place in October
and November 2015;work will include weekends to maintain the preset schedule:
The work will consist primarily of slab edges and lanai
ceiling work, warranty work and minor painting in the walkways.
The crews completing this work will be small and may involve use
of the scaffolding and/or lifts around the building. A 50 % point
reduction will be offered if scaffolding is directly affecting your
The AOAO will also complete a parking lot repair project. The
front desk will inform you of the parking restrictions, during the
repaving and resealing of the asphalt.
Seawall Emergency Repair:
The Papakea resort seawall itself is strong and stable; however,
it is being undermined by the ever-changing ocean swells and waves,
currents and tidal effects. For several reasons, (climate change, new
ocean cycles, etc.,) these effects are occurring throughout Hawaii,
including up and down the West Maui coast.
A seawall repair project is expected to start November 30,
2015 and to last through the end of 2016. There will be no work on
Christmas day and New Year's day, but construction will take place
during the holidays period. We anticipate noise during the repair
Papakea Resort Fee:
Effective since July 1, 2014, the Papakea Association of
Apartment Owners (AOAO) collects a resort fee. This fee,
applicable to everyone including residents, renters, time share guests,
and owners, is in lieu of a parking fee and includes free local calls
and free Wi-Fi. Resort fees are common and accepted practices in West
Maui and in Hawaii, in general.
The fee is set at $15.00 per night. For stays exceeding 10
nights, the fee will be applied to the first 10 nights of each
consecutive 30 day period of the stay. It will be collected at
check-out, by the Papakea Front Desk, as it is not a VI fee.
Please check-in at the Papakea office in the Papakea
resort lobby (check-in is no longer at Valley Isle). For any
questions regarding housekeeping or maintenance, please contact the VI
check-in office at Valley Isle.
VI Staff: There
are no VI personnel onsite at Papakea; concerns should be directed to
the VI staff located at the Valley Isle resort.
Air Conditioning: The
units do not have air conditioning but are equipped with ceiling fans.
As required by state and local regulations, this nightly tax rate is
based on condominium size and season.
All units have garden views.

Vacation Internationale is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen
personal items. Each resort keeps detailed records of all 'found'
items and will ship them back at the owner's expense, based upon local

claimed within 90 days will be donated to a local charity or discarded.
